There is a woman who has just got married coming to her mother’s house. He tells her mother and complains about her husband behavior. She admits that she just knew her husband’s character when they got married. He is so lazy, stubborn, spends much money etc. By telling her mother, she hopes her mother supports her. She is surprised because her mom does respond her at all. Even, she goes to the kitchen while her daughter keeps telling about her husband. And she follows her mom to the kitchen. Then her mom boils water. After some minutes, the water boils. Her mom pours the hot water to three different glasses that she has prepared before. She puts an egg into the first glass, puts carrot into the second glass, and coffee into the third glass. After waiting for some minutes, he mother shows the three different glasses to her daughter. And the result, hard carrot becomes soft, a fragile egg becomes hard, and coffee produces fragrance. Then her mom starts to explain that the problem in our life is like the boiling water. How we respond to it affects the result. We can be soft like carrot, or hard like egg or even fragrant like coffee.
Carrot and egg do not influence water, but they change themselves because of the water. While coffee can change water becomes so fragrant.
It is very easy to be grateful when you are in a good condition. But will you still be grateful when you are not in a good condition?
Today we have learned three things how we respond to our problems:
- There become soft, complain a lot, and feel sorry about themselves.
- There become hard, angry, and blame others.
- There become fragrant, strong and wise.
It depends on ourselves, how we respond to our problems.
